Solero Technologies Celebrates 50 Years in Water Valley, Reaches Significant Safety Milestone

WATER VALLEY, Mississippi – Solero Technologies, a leading global supplier of transmission solenoids, engine solenoids, stop-start accumulators, and hydraulic control modules, celebrated two major milestones at a community open house earlier this month.

The first milestone is the 50th anniversary of Solero’s Water Valley, Mississippi manufacturing facility, which produced its first parts in 1972. Since that time, the facility has been owned by several parent companies before its purchase by Atar Capital, a private investment firm, in 2021.

In addition to the anniversary, Solero recently achieved two million hours worked without recordable injury in October.  Solero’s CEO, Dr. Donald R. James also presented two awards: the CEO Safety Excellence Award and the peer-nominated Shirley Johnson Safety Award. The CEO Safety Excellence Award recognized Solero’s Water Valley facility for its commitment to maintaining a safe workplace for all employees, contractors, and visitors.  Plant Manager Tom Tkach accepted the award on behalf of the Water Valley facility. In recognition of that achievement, Solero and Atar together donated $10,000 each to two local charities – Compassion Food Ministries, a local food pantry, and This is Noteworthy, a nonprofit organization that promotes music and the arts.

The Shirley Johnson Safety Award was awarded to Solero’s Ella Booker, a Receiving Clerk from the Materials Team. The award recognizes outstanding safety, health leadership, innovation in safety and health, promotion of teamwork, and hazard identification and correction. Booker started working at the Water Valley facility in 1973, just four months after the facility first opened.

“This event was not only a celebration of Solero’s past achievements and successes, but also an opportunity to look forward to our bright future,” said Dr. James. “With our strong emphasis on safety and quality, I am proud that this team remains focused on excellence, which will ensure that our innovation and growth continue for decades to come.”
